Live trading

Updated

Live trading runs your strategy with real money on your own exchange account. Algonney never holds the funds on your exchange account: your bot trades through a key that can place orders but cannot withdraw or transfer anything. Before a bot touches real money it passes a readiness review, you confirm it, and from then on every position it opens gets a stop loss on the exchange first.

Your account, your key

You connect an exchange account in Settings › Connections with an API key that meets fixed rules:

  • it can read and trade, and has no withdrawal, transfer or wallet permission;
  • it is bound to the server IP address shown on the connect form;
  • connecting, replacing or removing it needs your two-factor code.

Keys are encrypted at rest and only their last characters are ever shown again. You also confirm that the account is used by your bots only; a dedicated sub-account works well. The platform never touches orders or positions it did not place. The full steps for Binance, Bybit and OKX are in Exchange API key security.

From paper to live

A live bot starts as a paper bot. You build the strategy, backtest it, run it on paper with virtual USDT on live prices, and when its trades match what you expected, you choose Go live on the stopped paper bot. You pick the exchange account and the allocation: a USDT amount or a percent of the account. Live capital is read from the exchange; if the balance cannot be read, the live start is refused.

The readiness review

The review lists every check with its result and, for a failed one, what fixes it:

  • the strategy is valid and its markets are resolved;
  • each market can hold the bot's stop loss and take profit, with the chosen trigger price;
  • sizing is complete and inside your plan's limits;
  • market history is loaded, live data streams are ready and new entries are allowed;
  • the exchange is reachable and the account is connected;
  • the key is trade-only and IP-bound, and the account is confirmed as bot-only;
  • two-factor authentication is set up;
  • your risk limits are set and the allocation fits your balance;
  • the account's leverage, margin and position mode settings are confirmed;
  • the account's private stream is open;
  • on futures, the stop loss sits inside the estimated liquidation price.

The review also shows the sizing it used: the capital, the position in USDT and in coins, and the loss at the stop. When everything passes, you confirm. The confirmation runs every check again, including the exchange clock, then makes the bot live and starts it.

Protection comes first

Once a bot is live, the guard handles every order. It cannot be turned off.

  • Stop loss first. When a position opens, its stop loss is placed on the exchange before anything else. No valid stop means no trade.
  • Protective orders first. Stop loss and close orders go first in every rate limit.
  • Risk checks before every entry. Your daily loss limit, maximum open positions and maximum position size apply to all bots on the account. See Crypto risk management.
  • Watchdog. Open orders and positions are checked with the exchange at regular intervals. A position whose stop loss is missing, rejected or cannot be confirmed in time is closed.
  • Restart safety. After a restart the platform compares orders and positions with the exchange and confirms every stop loss again before any bot acts.
  • No double orders. Every order carries a unique client id and is never sent twice after a lost answer.

You stay in control

The Live page shows positions, open orders and events for every live bot. You can stop a bot, stop it and close its positions, or use STOP ALL to block new entries and close every open position at once. Notifications tell you when a position opens or closes, when the guard acts, or when an exchange refuses a key or an order.

Jarvis, the AI assistant, can review a live bot and explain its trades, but it cannot start a live bot without your confirmation on a card, and it can never withdraw money or change your keys.

Plan limits

Your plan sets how many live bots you can run and how many live positions can be open at once:

LimitFreeStarterProMax
Live botsno live bots1 live bot5 live bots10 live bots
Open live positions1 open live position2 open live positions10 open live positions50 open live positions
Maximum leverage5×20×50×100×

When a plan ends, the rules for live bots above the new limit are in the subscription policy. All plans are on Plans and pricing.

Live trading can lose real money, including more than a stop loss when the market gaps. Read the risk disclosure before you go live.

Questions and answers

How do I start live crypto trading with a bot?

Build and backtest a strategy, run it as a paper bot, connect a trade-only key in Settings, Connections, then choose Go live on the paper bot. A readiness review checks the account, the key, your risk limits and the bot's settings. When every check passes you confirm, and the bot starts trading on your exchange account.

What checks run before a bot goes live?

The strategy must be valid, the markets resolved and able to hold a stop loss, sizing complete and within your plan, market data and the exchange reachable, the key trade-only and IP-bound, the account confirmed as bot-only, two-factor authentication set up, risk limits set, the allocation within your balance and, on futures, the stop loss inside the liquidation price. The confirmation runs every check again.

Is the stop loss placed on the exchange?

Yes. When a position opens, its stop loss is placed on the exchange before anything else. If no valid stop can be placed, the trade is not opened. Because the stop lives on the exchange, it stays in force even while the platform is offline.

What happens if the platform restarts or goes offline?

Stops already on the exchange keep protecting your positions. After a restart the platform first compares open orders and positions with the exchange and confirms each stop loss again before any bot acts.

Can the AI assistant start a live bot on its own?

No. Jarvis can prepare a live start, but a bot goes live only after you confirm it on the confirmation card. The same review and checks apply as on the Bots page.
